208-785-1960Dr. Stanley has devoted himself to veterinary medicine in one form or another since he was a small boy. His mother patiently endured many impromptu rehab-hospitals constructed in her home. It seems that there were always birds, lizards or other small creatures that needed a helping hand. After leaving Escondido High School in 1976, Dr. Stanley enrolled at the College of Idaho in the pre-veterinary program. During this time he developed a keen interest in wildlife biology and spent several years working for the US Fish and Wildlife Service, the Idaho Fish and Game, University of Idaho, and the Bureau of Land Management. However, Veterinary Medicine was his true calling and he re-initiated his pursuit of this goal at Boise State University before entering Washington State University, College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 1989.
After graduating Dr. Stanley accepted a position working for the Blackfoot Animal Clinic. The quality of both the practice and community soon won over Dr. Stanley, compelling him to become a partner in the business, thus starting a long term personal commitment to the service of the residents of South Eastern Idaho. This relationship has been very gratifying.
During his 20+ years of professional service, Dr. Stanley has achieved much. He has strived to keep abreast of medical and surgical developments by taking the lead. In addition to pursuing additional education each year, he has been a member of several professional societies devoted to particular disciplines within the profession. He has also served as president and educational coordinator for the local professional association. To his credits he can also add that he has been part of the adjunct teaching staff at Washington State University, College of Veterinary Medicine, where he taught the practice of veterinary medicine to senior students.
Within the community he has done much for the youth of Bingham County. He has mentored countless students of both high school level and college level, some of whom are now practicing veterinarians. The clinic doors are always open to scout troops, 4-H clubs, and other youth groups. Recently he has been instrumental in a program designed to help “City Kids” learn responsibility and gain farm knowledge through the “Cattle Kids” program. As well, you can always find Dr. Stanley and his wife Brenda at local charitable events.
Dr. Stanley’s personal life has been blessed by his wife Brenda, five children, and at present two grandchildren. There have been many professional opportunities that would have taken Dr. Stanley out of this area but he has chosen to stay and keep his family where the heart lives. Dr. Stanley is also an avid outdoorsman enjoying this great state in every way he can by horseback, foot, ski or boat. When you walk into the exam room with Dr. Stanley you will be received as a neighbor and friend.
